About the Role
The Health & Safety Advisor will be responsible for promoting and maintaining a positive health and safety culture across all construction sites. You will provide expert guidance to site management and operatives, ensuring full compliance with all statutory regulations and company policies. This role involves proactive risk management, delivering training, and conducting rigorous site inspections to prevent accidents and protect the wellbeing of all personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits, identifying potential hazards and ensuring corrective actions are implemented immediately.
- Develop, review, and update site-specific Health & Safety Plans, Risk Assessments, and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Deliver comprehensive induction training, toolbox talks, and site-specific safety briefings to all staff and sub-contractors.
- Investigate all incidents and near-misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending preventative measures to avoid recurrence.
- Advise site management on compliance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act and relevant Construction Regulations.
- Maintain accurate safety records, including training logs, inspection reports, and statutory notifications to the Health and Safety Authority (HSA).
Requirements
- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- Hold a relevant professional certification (e.g., NEBOSH National/International Diploma, IOSH membership, or equivalent).
- Thorough knowledge of Irish/UK Health and Safety legislation and best practice guidelines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in a dedicated Health & Safety role within the construction sector.
- Experience working with management systems (e.g., ISO 45001) is highly desirable.
