About the Role
The Quantity Surveyor will play a pivotal role in the financial and contractual management of our construction projects. You will be responsible for all cost planning, tender analysis, and procurement activities, ensuring that projects achieve maximum value for money. Working closely with the commercial team and site operations, you will manage cash flow, valuations, and final accounts to protect the company’s financial interests from project inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documentation for new projects and variations.
- Conduct detailed analysis of sub-contractor and supplier tenders, making recommendations for award based on cost and value.
- Manage the procurement process, including the negotiation of contracts, to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and services.
- Administer monthly valuations of work done, prepare interim payment certificates, and manage the final account process.
- Monitor project costs against budgets, identifying potential overspends and implementing cost-control strategies.
- Assess and value variations, claims, and extension of time requests, providing expert advice on contractual entitlements.
Requirements
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
- Strong technical knowledge of construction costs, measurement techniques (e.g., SMM7, NRM), and contract forms (e.g., JCT, NEC).
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Full proficiency in relevant cost management software (e.g., CostX, Conquest).
Experience
- Minimum 4 years’ relevant experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally within a main contractor environment.
